Stop Guessing Where To Put Things — Introducing The Orbit Framework™: A Smarter Way to Decide Where Everything Lives

You've seen the beautiful pantries. You've bought the bins, the baskets, the labels. What nobody gave you was the thinking behind where things actually go once you have it all. Until now.

Whether you're starting from scratch or standing in a fully stocked, beautifully labeled pantry that still somehow doesn't work — The Orbit Framework™ will explain where things should go and why.

The Question Nobody Answers Well Enough

Most people don't struggle to get organized because they're disorganized. They struggle because nobody ever taught them the actual decision making behind where things belong.

You can declutter an entire room, buy all the right products, watch every organizing video — and still stand there holding something with absolutely no idea where to put it. That frozen feeling isn't a you problem. Nobody taught us this. Not our parents. Not school. We were all just supposed to figure it out somehow.

That's exactly what The Orbit Framework™ was built to solve.

What Is The Orbit Framework™?

The Orbit Framework™ is a simple, repeatable system for knowing exactly where everything in your home should live — and why.

Think of it like a dartboard. The bullseye is your activity zone — the specific purpose of the space you're organizing. Everything in that space orbits around that center based on one thing: how often you reach for it.

The more you use something, the closer it lives to the bullseye. The less you use it, the further out it lives. That's it. Once you see it, you can't unsee it — and you'll use it in every space you ever organize.

It All Starts With Your Activity Zone

Before a single item gets placed, The Orbit Framework™ asks one question: what is this space actually for?

Not what's stored here. What happens here.

That answer becomes your activity zone — and your activity zone becomes the bullseye that everything else orbits around.

Take a kitchen counter near your stove. The activity happening there is food preparation. That makes it a Prep Zone. And once you know it's a Prep Zone, every single placement decision becomes clear.

Most people have never named or intentionally designed a Prep Zone in their kitchen. They've just put things where they fit. The Orbit Framework™ changes that — and once you experience a properly zoned Prep Zone, you'll wonder how you ever cooked without one.

The Three Orbits — Using the Prep Zone as an Example

① Inner Orbit — Daily Use

The items you reach for every single day during food prep live at the center of the zone. Arm's reach. No barriers. Nothing to move, open, or dig through to get to them.

For a Prep Zone: your cutting board, your chef's knife, your most used cooking utensils. Counter or the drawer directly beneath it. You shouldn't have to think twice about where they are.

② Mid Orbit — Regular Use

Items you use regularly but not every single day sit a natural step further out — still within the zone, still accessible, just not front and center.

For a Prep Zone: your mixing bowls, measuring cups, vegetable peeler. Close enough to grab without disrupting your flow, but not taking up prime real estate you need every day.

③ Outer Orbit — Intentional Use

Items used occasionally but purposefully have a precise, consistent home further away — a higher shelf, a back cabinet, a dedicated storage spot.

For a Prep Zone: your mandolin, food processor, specialty baking tools. You know exactly where they are. You reach for them with intention when you need them.

A Note on Flexibility

Every space is different. Your kitchen isn't my kitchen. Your layout has constraints mine doesn't — and that's completely okay.

The Orbit Framework™ is a starting point, not a strict set of rules. If your Inner Orbit item has to share a shelf with a Mid Orbit item because that's what your space allows — that's fine. The orbits are about prioritizing where things go for the easiest possible access.

You don't have to redo everything you've already built either. If your canned goods already live together and your snacks are grouped — keep them. The Orbit Framework™ simply asks one additional question: given how often you reach for each of these, are they in the right position within the space?

That single question is what reduces the decision fatigue that makes organizing feel so overwhelming. Instead of standing in a room wondering where something goes, you have a clear logical answer every time.

Once you understand the why, you can adapt this thinking to any space, any layout, any home you ever live in. The framework travels with you. The application will always look a little different — and that's exactly how it should be.

It Works at Every Scale

This is the part that surprises most people.

One drawer. One pantry. One garage. One whole home. Same three orbits. Every time. A space that makes sense, stays that way, and actually reduces the mental load of living in it.
